Majority of Career 6 courses achieve 100% A Level pass rate

Career 6’s first set of A Level students are celebrating exam success – with the majority of courses achieving a 100 per cent pass rate.

Part of the TEC Partnership, Career 6 offers ‘A Levels done differently’ in pathways ranging from Crime and Society to Health and Medical.

Subjects including Psychology, Sociology and Criminology, as well as BTECs in Health and Social Care and Applied Science all enjoyed a 100 per cent pass rate, with some “outstanding” individual results.

This will allow students to progress on to a wide range of university courses such as Law, Nursing and Forensic Psychology at institutions around the country, including University Centre Grimsby.

Notable successes include Charlie Quickfall who achieved AAB and has been accepted at Manchester University to study Law.

“I feel really happy about my results, but shocked too. The staff here have been great and put on a lot of extra support and revision sessions for us.”

Abbie London celebrated achieving BBC and will take her place at the University of Law at Leeds.

“It’s been really hard waiting for the results, but I was confident that I had revised as best I could.

“It was nerve-wracking trying to work out what I’d do if I didn’t get in, so I’m really happy I got into my first choice of university.”

Head of Career 6, Paul Lee said: “We are pleased to have our first cohort of students successfully completing their A levels at Career 6.”

“Career 6 offers A levels through different pathways including Crime and Society and Medical and Health and is now offering pathways in Science and Teaching from this September with more pathways to follow.”

“We had 100% pass rates in the majority of our A Levels and had similar success with our BTEC courses.”

“The students have achieved some outstanding results including A grades and most are now progressing on to university.”

“They have worked extremely hard and we are very proud of their achievements.”

Ben Owen, Executive Director Learner Services, also commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to see our first cohort of Career 6 students graduate, they have worked extremely hard over the past two years to achieve their goals.

“The next step for most of them is study at universities all over the country, including our own University Centre Grimsby.

“When the Institute first devised the concept of Career 6 we wanted to provide a very different and unique offer to the students of North East Lincolnshire. By offering career-based A Level and vocational study pathways linked to key employment areas we give our students the opportunity to quickly focus their studies on the specific skills required to progress in their chosen pathway.

“We have some exciting new pathways starting in September including a Teaching pathway that will set these students on the exciting path to a career in teaching. I’m looking forward to seeing how our graduates progress at university as well as see how our new students work hard to emulate their peers’ successes.”
