Hospitality team scoop PACE Excellence in Teaching award

Grimsby Institute’s Hospitality team have proved their excellence by scooping a prestigious national teaching award.

Staff members including Curriculum Manager Paul Robinson travelled to Birmingham to collect a Professional Association for Catering Education (PACE) award for Excellence in Teaching.

The annual event, held at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel and Country Club, recognised success in areas including lifetime achievement and apprenticeships.

Speaking after collecting the award, Paul said: “We were very proud to have been nominated, so to win was fantastic news.

“The PACE conference is a very well-known event in the calendar of anyone who works within catering education.

“It’s a great event and to win an award was unexpected but well received, as my department work very hard to give the best service they can to our learners.”

Leading master trainer Phil Raynsford hosted and presented the awards alongside the sponsors – the Worshipful Company of Cooks and the Craft Guild of Chefs.

The ceremony took place during a special dinner that followed PACE’s Professional Development Forum, and included the presentation of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Graham Wilkinson, Principal of Kendal College.
