Fabrication and Welding
In fabrication and welding you will be preparing and joining different types of metal using different processes.
Level 1
Level 2
Level 3 – Available for progressing learners with the appropriate Level 2 and Maths and English GCSE qualifications.
During the course, you will be introduced to a variety of fabrication and welding techniques such as MIG, TIG and MMA (don’t worry you’ll know the difference once you have finished.)
The Fabrication and Welding course offers a huge workshop with a variety of the latest and most up to date industry-standard equipment meaning you will have a head start should you choose this as a career path, you’ll also be shown the ropes by course tutors with a background in the industry and recent experience in the trade!

The department works hard to provide real-life work experience opportunities with local employers and works closely with the department’s skills employability trainer to engage as many as learners as possible. The Fabrication and Welding team are also going to provide the opportunity to work on in-house employers projects.
The department endeavours to give all its learners the opportunity to visit real-life working environments like Drax Power Station and Lincolnshire unique waste to power plants. All programmes are enriched with guest speakers who will give a real insight into working in these exciting industries and these come from a range of employers including National and local.
