Higher Education Financial Support

We provide financial assistance to students who are in financial difficulty and who are enrolled on a Higher Education course.

Care Leavers Scholarship Guidance

In 2022/23, the University Centre Grimsby (UCG) will provide 4 scholarships to Care Leavers for the duration of their higher education course within the TEC Partnership at the UCG campus, up to a maximum of three years’ worth of study. It will include:

  • Tuition fees – These will be covered by the TEC Partnership for the duration of the higher education course within the TEC Partnership, up to a maximum of three years or two years for a Foundation Degree or HNC/HND.
  • 52 weeks of accommodation will be provided during this time
  • College credits worth £875 will be provided each year to go towards meals on campus
  • A maintenance/travel subsidy of £4,000/year will be provided, payable in instalments as weekly BACS payments

Bursaries

In 2019/20, the University Centre Grimsby will provide 300 bursaries worth up to £350 paid as college credit to new Level 4 students from households with residual incomes lower than £25,000 and those from low participation backgrounds to students who are enrolled on a Higher Education course. The college credits can be used to support college based activities, such as purchasing any Institute service or goods through Institute systems e.g. gym membership, nursery, food, art equipment, trips/visits.

Financial support through bursary will be prioritised to students who pay full rate tuition fees, who have low household incomes of below £25,000 indicated by receiving full student finance and who live in POLAR3 Quintile 1 or 2 postcodes (designated target areas identified through the Office for Students data).
