Social Science is an established department within the Faculty of Health, Well-being and Society and located at the University Centre Grimsby. You will be taught by experts in their field and will be supported to develop your understanding and knowledge in your chosen area of study. We work with a number of employers and authorities to develop outstanding programmes in social science and ensure our graduates leave us prepared for the work in the sector.

Courses

The programme is focused on practice and will prepare students for the challenges of working in this vital and frequently fluid area within both the public and private sector, equipping all students with the knowledge, skills, understanding and critical instincts to work as an informed, confident and responsible professional.
BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies (Top-up) is designed to provide a comprehensive course that helps students to critically analyse various aspects of children’s life such as sociological factors, legislative changes and educational influences on children’s development, focusing on the age between 0-8 years old.
BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies Top Up (Graduate Practitioner Competencies) is designed to provide a comprehensive course that helps students to critically analyse various aspects of children’s life such as sociological factors, legislative changes and educational influences on children’s development, focusing on the age between 0-8 years old.
This course is ideal for aspiring counselling practitioners who are currently working in the healthcare sector, or applicants in search of a change in vocation; particularly those who would like to gain further insight into therapeutic intervention.
This programme draws on a range of local, national and international perspectives to give you a holistic view of health & social care. BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care (Top Up) is the equivalent to the final year of an undergraduate degree.

Our FdEd Early Childhood Studies has been aligned with the occupational standard for Early Years Lead Practitioner and approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE).
