A huge well done to our superstar success coach Michelle Burton – who has braved the shave in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support!
Michelle attracted a huge crowd for the big event, which took place in main reception this afternoon. She is aiming to raise £2,000 for the worthy cause and, with her current total standing at just over £1,000, is appealing for help to hit her target.
She said: “I wanted to do something big and I can’t jump out of a plane due to medical reasons, so I thought I’d go with the safer option and brave the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“It wasn’t for anyone in particular; everyone has been affected by cancer at some point in their lives. I’ve lost family members to cancer and also know people who have got through it, so it was really important to raise awareness.
“I particularly wanted to do it at college so the students could see it and understand why I was doing it. Doing good in the community is a big part of my heart, so it’s important we get that message across.”
Through both her work and personal life, Michelle is involved with local charitable organisations such as the NSPCC, Rotary Club of Cleethorpes, the Shoebox Appeal and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Speaking about the head shave, which was carried out by a member of Salon staff, Michelle added: “I’ve got plenty of hats – that was at the top of my Christmas list! I was a bit worried about the shape of my head, how much grey was coming through and the amount of people that would be there watching.
“I was most worried about making sure I raised enough money to be able to help someone out there though, so would appreciate any donations – no matter the amount.”
