The Institute is like a mini-town. Along with our great catering facilities we have an extensive sports centre and gym, our Graduate Salon’s hairdressing and beauty facility and iSpace, the place to go for peace and quiet when you’re reading or studying. Within iSpace you will find a range of computers and laptops which you can use to help your studies. There is also the Reading Garden which is ideal for quiet reading, with access to resources including online books and journals as well as help with assignments.
Please note: that the College is now cashless so any payments would need to be by card.
With meals starting from £3, our refectory offers food that is not only tasty but also affordable. Alongside tea, coffee and soft drinks, we stock premium sandwiches, healthy meals made in-house, a fresh salad bar, paninis, jacket potatoes, pizza and much more, all served in a comfortable, friendly environment. Vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful, and we cater to all dietary needs.
We also provide a FREE healthy breakfast to our learners every day from 8:15am – 8:45am!
Here you can find a wide selection of magazines and newspapers, groceries and confectionery, hot beverages by Costa Coffee and, of course, stationery and other essential study materials.
The Gallery Restaurant in the hospitality department is run by learners; it offers a unique, reasonably priced lunch and dinner menu that is changed termly.
Crumbs Bakery offers delicious snacks, both sweet and savoury, that are freshly prepared by our hospitality learners.
Our Sports Centre boasts a six-court hall for daily enrichment activities, and our full gym offers the chance to work out at a reduced membership rate exclusive to learners.
The Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) is made up of artificial pitches that are located beside the Sports Centre. These have been designed for learners, staff, local sports clubs and community groups to use throughout the day and evening for football and hockey on artificial grass.
Whether you want to work up a physical sweat out on the field or just score big in a game of FIFA, or if you’d like to kick back to some Netflix or get into one of our ambassador groups, there is plenty on offer in terms of enrichment.
Over the course of the year there will also be themed weeks and events offering various opportunities to upskill yourself, improve your awareness and develop your mental and physical wellbeing, such as our annual Inter-college Competition and the Competitions’ Carnival!

This rule also applies to motorcycles, which should be parked in specially designated areas only.
Any vehicles found to be in violation of these rules may be clamped and issued with a parking ticket. Grimsby Institute is not involved in the issuing of parking tickets, and you should instead contact Shield Security for any concerns (all details are listed on the back of tickets).
