Grimsby Institute Campus and Facilities

The Institute is like a mini-town. Along with our great catering facilities we have an extensive sports centre and gym, our Graduate Salon’s hairdressing and beauty facility and iSpace, the place to go for peace and quiet when you’re reading or studying. Within iSpace you will find a range of computers and laptops which you can use to help your studies. There is also the Reading Garden which is ideal for quiet reading, with access to resources including online books and journals as well as help with assignments.

Please note: that the College is now cashless so any payments would need to be by card.

Food & Coffee Spots

With loads of great places to eat, grab supplies and chill out, campus life has everything you need to make your day easier. The Refectory serves tasty, affordable meals from just £3, with options like fresh salads, paninis, jacket potatoes, pizza and premium sandwiches, plus plenty of vegan and veggie choices. You can even enjoy a FREE healthy breakfast every morning from 8:15am–8:45am.

If you fancy a treat, Crumbs Bakery offers delicious sweet and savoury snacks freshly prepared by our hospitality learners, while the Campus Shop is perfect for Costa Coffee lovers. For something a bit special, The Samphire Restaurant gives you the chance to enjoy high‑quality meals cooked and served by our talented learners, with menus that change regularly and offer great value.

Enrichment – More than just lessons

College is all about discovering who you are, trying new things and making memories and our enrichment opportunities give you everything you need to get involved, build confidence and meet new people. Whether you want to get active on the field, smash your mates at FIFA, relax with some Netflix, join an ambassador group or get stuck into themed events and competitions throughout the year, there’s always something happening to help you grow, have fun and support your wellbeing. This includes big highlights like our annual Inter‑College Competition and Competitions’ Carnival, packed with chances to develop new skills and push yourself.

Our Sports Centre is the perfect place to stay active, offering a fully equipped gym with exclusive student membership rates, plus a six‑court sports hall ideal for training or joining team activities. Right next door is the Multi‑Use Games Area (MUGA), featuring artificial pitches for football, hockey and more, used throughout the day and evening by students, staff, sports clubs and community groups. You can even hire our facilities for your own team or club sessions.

If you’re into the arts, the Grimsby School of Art hosts exciting shows, performances and exhibitions throughout the year, many of which are completely free, giving you loads of opportunities to explore creativity, support your friends or simply enjoy a great night out.

And for a bit of self‑care, the Graduate Salon on campus offers fantastic discounted hair, beauty and holistic treatments carried out by our skilled learners, supported by experienced professionals. Student Essentials

Our Learning Centres give you all the space, resources and support you need to stay on top of your studies. You’ll find our FE Learning Centre, on the first floor of D Block, plus there’s an additional service at the Nunsthorpe Community Campus on Sutcliffe Avenue. All students and staff can borrow from any centre using a student ID card and each space offers a full range of learning support, study areas and academic resources to help you succeed. The FE Learning centre is open Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm and Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.

For everyday essentials, the Campus Shop has you covered with snacks, groceries, stationery, magazines, newspapers and all the study materials you might need. Perfect for grabbing supplies between lessons.

When it comes to getting your work printed and ready to hand in, our e‑Print service offers everything from assignment printing and photographic printing to bookbinding, finishing and stationery. You’ll also find printers and copiers in each Learning Centre, so you can easily manage your print jobs using your learner print credits

Campus Parking

The campus car park is open to all students, staff and members of the public visiting our site.  Vehicles must be parked in designated spaces only. Vehicles must not be parked on yellow lines or areas hatched in yellow, in locations where health and safety issues arise (for example, somewhere that may block fire escape routes) or in such a way that causes obstruction or inconvenience to others. This rule also applies to motorcycles, which should be parked in specially designated areas only. 

Any vehicles found to be in violation of these rules may be clamped and issued with a parking ticket. Grimsby Institute is not involved in the issuing of parking tickets and you should instead contact Shield Security for any concerns (all details are listed on the back of tickets). 

The campus car park is private property and all vehicles are parked at their owner’s risk. 

On‑Campus Nursery

Little Stars Day Nursery is an award-winning childcare nursery registered for 77 child places. We have been established since 1986 and are located in Grimsby. Little Stars Day Nursery is open to learners and Grimsby Institute staff, as well as the wider community. We are open all year round excluding the week between Christmas & New Year and all Bank Holidays.
