Key milestone for New Animal Care Centre at Grimsby Institute

Grimsby Institute staff and students participate in a steel signing ceremony, marking a pivotal moment in constructing a new animal care facility. Tuesday, 27th February, marked the final steel beam on the £5m project to develop a new animal care teaching facility and veterinary practice at Nuns Corner.

Developed in partnership with Topcon Building Limited and supported by funding from the Office for Students, an independent higher education regulator, the state-of-the-art facility will welcome students from Spring 2024.

“The new curved building will transform the practical learning experience of our animal care and veterinary courses – so it is fitting to welcome some of our current students to be involved in this event today”, commented Adrian Clarke, Vice Principal of Corporate Services for Grimsby Institute.

The new facility, which broke ground in January 2024, signifies a considerable step towards revolutionising animal care education and veterinary services in Grimsby.

“We are so excited to move to the new campus in the new year. The facilities will be amazing, and I can’t wait to get real work experience through our new Veterinary Surgery”, commented Elle Strachan, First-year Animal Management Student.
Attendees signed their names on the final steel beam, and students learned more about the building’s construction phases.
