Today, Professional Cookery student, Morgan Robinson, has headed to Loughborough College to participate in the regional finals of the Young Risotto Chef of the Year competition.
Each year, Riso Gallo, Europe’s premier grain specialists, search for young chefs (aged 17-23) who can inject personality, passion and creativity to create a vibrant, exciting dish.
Emphasising sustainability and reducing food waste, Morgan hopes to impress with this risotto recipe. Excited to be at the competition, he said:
“I’m very happy to get into the competition. It is an amazing opportunity and experience. Risso Gallo is a leader in rice production: they use sustainable farming techniques and treat their farmers well. I wish everyone who enters the best of luck!”
Chef Zack Feve, Hospitality Programme leader, who will accompany Morgan, said:
“We’re incredibly proud of Morgan here at the Grimsby Institute. Competitions like these provide an amazing experience and opportunities for our students. I’m wishing Morgan the best of luck and can’t wait to see him in action!”
If Morgan places at the regional heats, he will go on to the grand final held at Tottenham Hotspur’s H Club on the 2nd June 2025.
