Grimsby Institute Students Celebrate Results Day Success 

Students at Grimsby Institute, part of the TEC Partnership, are celebrating today after receiving their Level 3 qualification results. 

The campus welcomed students, families, and staff this morning for a celebration event as students collected their results and marked the end of their studies together. 

Across the campus, students achieved strong outcomes across a range of curriculum areas, with particular success seen in engineering and manufacturing, IT, and forensics. Creative disciplines also achieved a 100% pass rate, alongside many other courses across the college. 

Results at Grimsby Institute highlighted remarkable year-on-year growth across key technical subjects: 

• T Level Engineering & Manufacturing (Mechatronics): Students studying Maintenance, Installation, and Repair achieved a 100% pass rate – an increase of 56 percentage points on last year. 

• Forensic and Criminal Investigation: Students on the BTEC Extended Diploma maintained a 100% pass rate, while the proportion achieving high grades increased by 51 percentage points to 60%. 

• IT : BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma students achieved a 100% pass rate (up 33 percentage points on last year), while high grades rose by 22 percentage points to 33%. 

• Electrical Installation: Students completing the City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma achieved an 86% pass rate – an impressive 59 percentage point increase compared to last year. 

Among those celebrating today was Oliver Firth, who achieved a Distinction in the Level 3 National Diploma in Creative Media and Production. Oliver is progressing locally to study at University Centre Grimsby, commenting: 

“My next steps are to study photography at the University Centre Grimsby. 

“One of the highlights of my time at the Grimsby Institute was the work experience trips, where I gained real-world experience and had a great time alongside my peers. 

“The main factor that helped me achieve the grade I wanted was the excellent equipment and facilities available at the college. Having access to cameras and other photography equipment allowed me to develop my skills, and the tutors were incredibly supportive throughout my studies.” 

Eleanor Mills achieved a triple Distinction (DDD) on her BTEC Extended Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Investigation and is now heading to university. Eleanor said: 

“My next steps are to study at the University of Hull to study Forensics Science, with the hopes to become a pathologist. 

“My course tutor has been incredibly supportive and helped me achieve the grades I wanted. 

“My favourite memory at the Grimsby Institute was the experience trip to Amsterdam, where we visited the Body Worlds Museum.”

Sommer Salter, who studied on the Crime and Social Studies pathway, achieved a Distinction in Law, a B in Criminology, and a C in Sociology. Preparing to move on to higher education, Sommer said: 

“My next steps are to study at the University of Law in Leeds. 

“My highlight of the year has been my tutor, who has been extremely supportive throughout the year.”

“Today is a hugely proud moment for everyone at Grimsby Institute. Our students have worked incredibly hard and shown real resilience, determination and ambition throughout their studies. 

“We are delighted to celebrate their achievements and support them as they move on to exciting next steps including university, apprenticeships and employment. 

“I would also like to thank our dedicated staff and the families who have supported our students throughout their journey.” 

Many students from Grimsby Institute will now progress to higher education, apprenticeships, and careers across the region and beyond.
