Staff and digital creative learners from the Grimsby School of Art have been busy putting the final touches to an exciting showcase set to be unveiled at Freshney Place.
The Show Offs exhibition will be open to the public from the 5th-11th February and will include fashion, photography, music, performing arts, moving image, games design, professional writing and visual arts.
Emma Forrest-Leigh, Associate Principal Digital & Creative Industries, is delighted to be holding the exhibition in the heart of the town centre and extremely proud of the art work and exhibits on show.
“Show Offs is a celebration of mid-year successes within the faculty,” she said. “Each course is displaying a successful set of work from a chosen assignment that has taken place between September and this mid-year point.
“Work ranges from fashion to artwork, films, music, computer generated work and written pieces. Some learners are performing extracts of shows they have conducted in our theatre earlier in the year.
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Freshney Place who have generously provided us with this platform for our learners to gain real feedback on their work and gain experience in curating an exhibition of their work, in preparation for our end of year show.
“We welcome visitors to come and visit the Show Offs pop up shop to view the work and find more about what we do in the Art School. In turn we also warmly welcome visitors to follow up their visit with an invitation to our end of year event and see how the mid-year work will have developed into the learner’s final pieces.
“This event is annual and is part of a strong working relationship with Freshney Place, who will also be involved in a forthcoming partner Fashion Show. Together we are supporting the creative talent within our community.”
