Access to HE Diploma: Social Work
About This Course
On the course, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and practical skills through a range of subject areas including the role and function of social services, safeguarding and family. Successful completion of this diploma will open doors to a number of university courses, giving you the chance to study a broad array of degrees leading to careers in social work, youth work, social policy, and conferencing.Do not worry if you have been out of education for a while, or never went to college, the course is under-pinned with study skills throughout to ensure you develop these key skills in academic writing, research, and digital literacy, alongside learning about social work.
To study on this programme, you need a level 2 qualification in English and maths and be aged over 19.
The diploma covers three key subject disciplines:
- Psychology – Key aspects of psychology, developmental psychology, and psychological disorders.
- Sociology – Application of sociological approaches and the Family.
- Social Policy – The roles and functions of social services, poverty in contemporary Britain, safeguarding and understanding the welfare State.
Alongside the specialist subject disciplines, you will be supported to develop your study skills to ensure you are well equipped to complete your assessments and thrive in an HE environment.
The Access to HE diploma is a full level 3 qualification and will enable you to progress on to study a degree in Social Work, Children, Young People and Families (CYPF), Social Policy, Counselling, Sociology, or a number of other related degree choices.
