Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Digital Media is our foundation course that facilitates the first year of college for learners who may not have achieved the entry grades required, for Level 2 or Level 3. The course is structured to give you experience in digital project creation, website development, database and personal management skills, alongside producing adverts with photographic and video work to introduce learners to digital working practices. Over the one-year course, you will be given opportunities to learn and explore a set of subject areas that leads into Level 2 Creative Media Production, Computing and Games or Art and Design. The Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production welcomes learners who want to learn more about the media industry and develop a fundamental portfolio of photography and video work. The course is structured to work in harmony with GCSE Maths and English, which is completed alongside Media and Photography skills. You will get the opportunity to test out and develop a varied set of abilities, gain knowledge and carry out practical work in photography, web design, short film creation and scriptwriting. Throughout the one-year course, you will get to know your preferred specialism in either TV and Film or Photography, ready to move on to Level 3 in one of those specialisms. Level 3 Creative Media Production (TV & Film) course offers a practical, industry-designed format that is filled with creative projects. You’ll be in our real media suites, using software from the Adobe Creative Cloud suite such as Final Cut Pro and industry-standard equipment to develop your key media skills. This course will help you develop and work towards your portfolio and end-of-line production projects, uniquely tailored to each learner’s specialist interest. The best part of the course is that you get to work with Estuary Student TV, our very own award-winning student production team, which means you’ll be involved with the recording and production of commercial media projects. The Estuary Student Media brand is well established in highlighting our success and offer to learners, using a production-led, practical approach to our creative project work.

Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process. The following list offers a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course.
PLEASE NOTE IN SOME AREAS WHERE THERE IS A HIGHER MATHS, ENGLISH OR SCIENCE CONTENT, OR WHERE TECHNICAL SKILLS ARE REQUIRED, THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ARE HIGHER THAN STATED BELOW. APPLICANTS ARE ADVISED OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR INDIVIDUAL COURSES AT THEIR INTERVIEW AND THIS IS CHECKED AT ENROLMENT. FOR CREATIVE COURSES A PORTFOLIO REVIEW OR AUDITION MAY BE REQUIRED AT INTERVIEW.
Entry Level 3 Programmes
No formal entry qualifications but subject to approval from the Foundation Learning Assessment Team.
Level 1 Programmes
GCSEs grades1-2 or E to G or equivalent, including Foundation Awards and Entry Level Certificates.
Level 2 Programmes
Minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 3 (previously D) or above including Maths and English language OR Minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 3 or above including Maths and English language and relevant subject qualification OR Minimum of Level 1 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English language and Maths at Level 1.
Level 3 Programmes
Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 (previously C) or above including Maths and English language OR Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including Maths and English language and relevant subject qualification OR Minimum of Level 2 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English language and Maths at level 2.
Progressing to each level of study
Once you successfully completed your course you may be able to progress to the next level, following a satisfactory interview with a Tutor. If you’ve finished your Level 3 course you will be offered advice and guidance from our Career Advisers on how to apply for a place at University through UCAS, or how to apply for a job or an Apprenticeship.
Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 courses generally last one year; Level 3 courses will usually last for two years.
Work experience placements will be available with industry professionals. This involves discussing and understanding client briefs, working directly with customers whilst photographing, or recording content for client consumption.
