ABC LEVEL 2 AWARD IN COUNSELLING CONCEPTS

Our Health and Social Care courses include a practical introduction to counselling and the development of essential interpersonal and industry skills.

This Level 2 course is designed to provide a basic understanding of what counselling is about and be able to compare counselling with other forms of helping relationships. Throughout the course you will enhance and improve your overall verbal communication skills, especially empathy, the ability to listen and respect silence. Along with enhancing and improve written communication skills.

Mandatory units 

• The professional context of counselling – this unit provides a basic introduction to counselling. You will develop an understanding of what counselling is and an appreciation that qualified counsellors are those who use counselling skills abide by an ethical framework. You will also learn about creating the right ethos for the helping relationship to be successful.  
• Communication skills in helping relationships – In this unit you will explore effective communication skills used in helping relationships.
• An introduction to personal development – In this unit you will have the opportunity to reflect on your own personal development and identify areas for development in the future.
