Advance your skills in refrigeration and air conditioning design on this unique course specifically designed to meet the UK skills shortage within the refrigeration industry. The course is unique within the UK and has been designed to provide underpinning knowledge and skills in refrigeration and air conditioning design at levels 4 and 5.
Applicants will require 64 UCAS points in an engineering related subject, or 60 Access-to-HE Credits (of which a minimum of 45 must be at Level 3). Applicants are required to hold English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C/4.
The Institute will also encourage applications from non-traditional learners who lack formal academic qualifications. Non-standard applicants would normally have extensive industrial experience within the engineering/construction sector with specific knowledge and/or skills related to refrigeration or air-conditioning systems. It would be ideal if they had already completed a level 3 module in engineering mathematics. All such non-traditional applicants will be interviewed, set an appropriate piece of work this will be a short assignment that aims to measure your knowledge and understanding of mathematic applications in an engineering environment and your rationale for the results and a judgement made taking into account their academic potential and relevant experience.

International students must evidence they possess a satisfactory command of English language in terms of reading, writing, listening and are expected to have achieved Level B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR), as defined by UK Visas and Immigration.
Core knowledge and understanding is acquired via lectures, seminars, workshops, group work, computer assisted learning, case studies, video and other multi-media presentations. There will also be a range of enrichment and practical activities aimed at enhancing a range of skills. The use of self-directed study and independent learning materials will also be used in some modules. Webinars of lectures will also be available along with online tutorials.
Throughout the teaching the emphasis will be made on context and application of theory to practice to a relevant engineering design/management environment. In the learning and teaching approach we will utilise FRPERC.
