  • Borrowing From Grimsby Institute Learning Centre

How To Borrow From Us

Before you can borrow books from the Learning Centres you will need a student ID card which you can get from Student Records. Once you’ve got your ID card your details are automatically entered into our system, within 24 hours. You must have your ID card to borrow any items.

Students and staff may borrow up to 10 books at a time, and can renew books up to five times. You can renew and reserve books in person, by phone or online.

Remember don't let anyone else use your card. You are responsible for all books and resources (including laptops) issued on your ticket.

Books are generally loaned for up to two weeks or seven days.

Renewing items which you have on loan

To renew by phone 01472 311222 Ext. 1322, to renew online go to online library catalogue or use any of the OPACs located in the Learning Centres.

Please note: You cannot renew a book using the self-issue system or online if you owe a fine.

Reserving a book

If a book is out on loan you can reserve it to be held for you when it is returned. You can do this yourself using the online catalogue system or by asking at the Learning Centre desk.

A member of our staff will phone and let you know when it is available for collection.

Loaning Laptops

Laptops are available in the HE Learning Centre and in Ispace (FE) from the self-service locker. Laptops are generally available for a two hour loan and students are expected to be responsible for them; plugging them back in and making sure they are returned promptly. Laptops loaned from ISpace must stay in the centre and not taken out into classrooms etc.
