Erasmus Learning Partnership

Spend time studying abroad with our Erasmus learning partnership

Want the chance to spend some of your course studying abroad?

From the 2017-18 academic year, our learners for Level 3 Media and Art will get the opportunity to travel to Malta and Germany on an all-expense paid three-week exchange.

The two colleges are:

  • MCAST, Malta College of Arts Science and Technology – Malta
  • Europa College – Bonn, Germany

These trips will give 12 learners the chance to take on live projects and get work experience in the field whilst also doing something that is part of the overall course.

Our staff have been very involved, over the last 12 months, researching other colleges across the continent to see what we can do better to vary the experience of everyone who comes to the Grimsby Institute.

Around 30 staff have been to Europe and we hope to open similar opportunities across more of our courses over the next three or four years.

Our Associate Principal, Emma Forrest-Leigh, said of the project:

"I truly believe that Erasmus+ changes lives in so many ways. Imagine being a learner on a L3 programme and being funded to spend three weeks of the course in another country to develop your skills, in a programme combining classroom and amazing work experience. At Grimsby Institute, you can." "Imagine being a teacher and being given a focused week to travel away and seeing a whole new way of doing things meeting likeminded people who want to discuss your craft and share skills with you. Grimsby Institute colleagues have amazing CPD. I can’t think of a better power pack we could provide to our educational community and I am dedicated to extending this to as many learners and staff colleagues across the group as I can."

Our Level 3 courses work across a number of different skillsets and our TV and film course works directly with live Freeview and Virgin channel Estuary TV – our sister company – for real-life experience.
