Hospitality & Catering

Do you fancy yourself as the next Michel Roux Jr or Angela Hartnett? Maybe you’re more of a Jamie Oliver? Whatever your approach, our Hospitality and Catering courses will bring out the best in you and help you find your own style.

And of course hospitality isn’t just about cooking, there are lots of opportunities available front-of-house and our training will give you the skills you’ll need to succeed in this exciting industry. By being part of our team you’ll learn to give first-class service to customers in a variety of training facilities like the Gallery Restaurant and the University Centre Grimsby’s Atrium Café.

Within our local area we are lucky enough to have national companies on our doorstep who develop products and sell them to high-street brands such as Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Asda and many more, these businesses use chefs to develop new menus and food ranges. Recognised as one of the east coast’s busiest tourist resorts, Cleethorpes, is home to a huge amount of pubs, restaurants and hotels all looking for first-class hospitality staff.

Our industry standard kitchens, up-to-date equipment and real working environments means your learning journey starts exactly where it should, in the heart of the industry. You’ll gain hands on experience not only on site but on one of 150 national work experience placements available to learners.

New for 2016 - Our new Neff demonstration kitchen has been designed as a space that learners can relax in whilst being taught theory, so rather than the standard classroom environment - or standing up in a kitchen before carrying out the task, you can sit and watch the demonstration right in front of you. Outside of college annual trips and exciting guest speakers add to the mix making our courses the perfect choice. You will train in cooking techniques and food prep including fish, meat, poultry and pasta dishes, baking, patisserie and cake decorating as well as front of house hosting, restaurant skills and customer service. The room has been enhanced with specialist chairs donated by the Savoy Educational Trust to give a more relaxed learning environment.
